Why Victims Are Reporting Damage from CPAP Machines

Continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP) and ventilator machines are prescribed to help patients who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to breathe more easily throughout the night.
They work by increasing air pressure in the throat so that the airway doesn’t collapse during the inhaling portion of breathing.
Following a recent announcement by Phillips® that they’re recalling between 3 and 4 million CPAP and ventilation devices due to disintegrating sound-reducing foam, consumers have begun to report suffering serious side effects.
Some of the symptoms that are being reported include:
- Respiratory issues
- Chemical poisonings
- Other unhealthy conditions
Consumers that have become victims of the dangerous side effects of particular Phillips® CPAP and ventilation machines should come forward to file claims for compensation in a court of law — case evaluations are free of charge and entirely private.
Reports and studies show a pattern of manufacturer error with CPAP and ventilator machines that they never warn the public about.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a press release back in June of 2021 to alert people “who use Philips® Respironics ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP machines and their health care providers that Philips® Respironics has recalled certain devices due to potential health risks.”1
Use of these products contain the following risks:
- Polyester-based polyurethane sound abatement foam, used to reduce sound and vibration in these devices, may break down and enter the air pathway
- Black debris from the foam or certain chemicals released into the device’s air pathway may be inhaled or swallowed
- This foam can potentially cause significant health issues for the use of these devices that require long-term and expensive treatments
The Healthline.com website reveals that this has affected approximately 2 million people in the United States.
Dr. Abbas Anwar, a head and neck surgeon at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, told Healthline that depending on the patient’s condition, the best option may include discontinuing use of the device and finding a replacement.
We believe that victims of faulty CPAP and ventilator machines and their families should be able to face the manufacturer and get the compensation they deserve for the lifetime of care they’ll need.
